Welcome
You have found the home for the islands best kept secret, The Acme
Cantina. The building is rumored to be one of the oldest structures
on the island. From very humble beginnings as a family beach house get
away, to today as one of the islands bright spots in the Food and Beverage
industry.
Some "old timers" may remember the building as part of a group of residences,
affectionately referred to as "Swainland". The Swain family dates back
to the origins of the Isle of Palms when it was at the end of a long trolley
ride from downtown Charleston, catering to the elite socialites of the
day.
The building has gone through several changes since being converted to
a business back in the mid 70's, and taking on the role as a restaurant
in the mid-eighties. The structure was christened "The Acme Cantina" in
1996 and has continued to evolve.
The current staff and management (with over 50 years experience, Jeff's
been involved from the very beginning!) took over in May of 1999 with
a single goal in mind, that being to make the Acme the best eating and
social establishment on the island. We hope you like the changes, we are
working very hard each day to earn your trust, and we sincerely appreciate
your patronage.
If you enjoy your experience at The Acme, tell a friend (maybe two!).
If there's a problem, tell a manager, we will do whatever is necessary
to make your visit the most pleasurable experience possible. That's our
promise to you, and we will work hard each and every day to prove it's
true.
"Be
sure to tell your server, Jeff's cousin... Leonard sent you!"
